Q

How do trees cope with the seasons?

A

Trees grown rapidly during the spring when the weather is wet and warm but they lose their leaves in the winter. This saves energy. The fallen leaves provide a layer of warmth and protection around the base of the tree and the tree can reuse the nutrients from these leaves too.

Q

How does the population between the snowshoe hair and the Canadian lynx change?

A

There is an interdependence between the snowshoe hare and lynx. This is when the predator feeds of just one type of prey and this means that changes in one animal directly affects the population of the other. For example:
-When the hare population increases, the lynx have more to eat.Eventually, the predators run out of food and their population numbers start to decrease.
