What is dyslipidaemia

A

Dyslipidaemia is a broad term describing a number of conditions, including
hypercholesterolaemia, hyperlipidaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia, in which
disturbances in fat metabolism lead to changes in the concentrations of lipids in the blood.

A

Primary: genetic mutations e.g. familial hypercholesterolaemia

Secondary: obesity, DM, hypothyroidism, cholestatic liver disease, drugs e.g. thiazide, atypical antipsychotics
