Calling in vs. Calling out
If you call someone in, you circle back to a hurtful or oppressive comment they made in private. If you call someone out, you let them know their comment was hurtful in a public space.
Ending of Slavery in the US
13th Amendment > Passed by Congress on January 31, 1865, and ratified on December 6, 1865, the 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States
The Great Migration
The Great Migration, sometimes known as the Great Northward Migration or the Black Migration, was the movement of 6 million African Americans out of the rural Southern United States to the urban Northeast, Midwest and West that occurred between 1916 and 1970.
Incarceration statistics
Even after the incarceration rate dropped 25% from 2000 to 2015, Black men were still nearly 6 x more likely to be incarcerated than white men, 25x more likely than black women and 50 times more likely than white women. Black men raised in top 1% of millionaires are as likely to be incarcerated as white men raised in households earning $36,000
