Q

How are igneous rocks formed

A

Lava cools and hardens. Rocks form crystals as it cools down, rocks are usually hard e.g. granite

Q

How are sedimentary rocks formed

A

Lots of rocks, dead animals and dead plants fall to the bottom of a body of water, as more fall down, pressure builds and the air bubbles down below get forced out, the sediment is then compressed into rock

Q

How are metamorphic rocks formed

A

These are formed when other rocks ( igneous and sedimentary ) I changed by heat and pressure. Rock becomes harder and more compact, and example is shale become slate and further heat changes slate to schist
