Q

How to calculate Kp from Kc?

A

Kp=Kc(RT)^n
R=0.08206
T=Temperature in K
n= (products-reactants)

Q

Le Chateliers principle:

A

When a stress is applied to a system, the system moves in such a way to remove the stress.
( but sometimes doesn’t always work).

Q

What happens when Q of a reaction mixture is less than K?

A

Reactants are convert into products until equilibrium is reached. (reaction will proceed to the right).

Q

What happens when K of a reaction mixture is less than Q?

A

Products are converted back into reactants until equilibrium is reached. (reaction will proceed to the left).

Q

What does the size of K tell us?

A

If K<1 then the position of equilibrium lies to the reactants.
If K>1 then the position of equilibrium lies to the products.

Q

What happens when the value of Q stops increasing?

A

At this point, the reaction converting the reactant into products is still happening. But as quickly as the products are being formed, the products are being converted back to reactants. This is where the reaction is going both ways at the same time. We call this dynamic equilibrium .
