what is the function of the larynx?
A
it contains the vocal cord and allows air to pass into the trachea

A
anterior to the laryngopharynx
inferior to the oropharynx
level with C3 - C6

what is the structure of the larynx?
A
it is composed of 9 cartilage
Three singular cartilages
- epiglottis
- thyroid
- cricoid cartilage
and three pair of cartilage
- Aritoid
- corniculate
- Cuneiform

what does the cricoid cartilage do?
A
it creates a complete ring around the larynx making sure the structure of the layrnx isn’t compressed when a large mouthful passes through the pharynx to the esophagus
