2
Q

what are the 2 layers of the peritoneum

A
  • outer layer = parietal peritoneum and is attached to the abdominal wall
  • inner layer = visceral peritoneum and is wrapped around the internal organs that are located on the inside of the intraperitoneal cavity

Q

what is the mesentery

A

The membrane that attaches the intestines to the wall of the abdomen and maintains their position in the abdominal cavity to supply them with blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatics.

6
Q

what connects the 2 regions of the peritoneum

A

epiploic foramen - is a passage between the greater sac (peritoneal cavity proper) and the lesser sac (omental bursa), allowing communication between these two spaces.

Q

what are the handout organs

A

distal one third of the transverse colon to the upper part of the anal canal.

17
Q

what may show as back pain

A

pain in the retroperitoneal organs eg kidney and pancreas

18
Q

what may show as shoulder tip pain

A

irritation of the diaphragm eg as result of liver, gallbladder or duodenum inflammation
