“As solitary as an oyster”
Scrooge seems unkind on the outside and has a hard shell like an oyster. He is hard to open up and isn’t very nice. However when you see what is on the inside it is kindness and love just like the outside of and oyster is hard but on the inside there is a beautiful pearl.
What does Tiny Tim call Scrooger at the end of the play?
“A second father”

This is an asyndetic list of gerunds that are used to describe Scrooge.
Scrooge feels pain from his past memories

“external heat and cold had little influence on Scrooge, No warmth could warm, no wintry weather chill him”
Scrooge doesn’t let anyone change what he thinks. The cold represents Scrooge himself because he isn’t a good person and he can’t be changed by people.
“I’m not the man I was.”
Scrooge has changed and he is different to what he was at the start of the play.
His Nephew treats him nicely and he replies in a way that isn’t pleasant because he doesn’t like christmas.
“Bah humbug”
What did the ghost of christmas future show Scrooge?
He was shown himself when he is dead and how people talked about him.
What did Scrooge do for the Cratchits at the end of the play?
Scrooge bought a big turkey and sent it to their house because they couldn’t afford lots of food.
“Your poor enough”
At the start Scrooge was very focused on money and thought to be happy you had to be rich so when his nephew comes to him and says merry christmas he says he has no right to be merry because he has no money.
Scrooge doesn’t want to donate money and asks if there are not other places for the people to go.
” Are there no prisons”
How does Scrooge describe Marley at the very start of the novel?
“Marley was as dead as a doornail”

The Ghost of christmas present repeated what Scrooge had said when he asked if there was no refuge for Tiny Tim.

Scrooge asked the spirit to take him back because he didn’t like what he had said.

Does Scrooge want to be visited by the ghosts?
No, he wants to go back to sleep and act like Marley was never there.
Two words that are repeated when Scrooge is waiting for the first ghost to come. It is relating to time and clocks.
“ding dong”
When the Cratchits have a conversation what shows they are different to Scrooge
“merry” The Cratchits are extremely poor but still manage to be happy and have a good time.
“Neglected by friends”
Scrooge didn’t have a very good childhood because he didn’t have many friends and he didn’t have a good relationship with his father.
