What is a quote in a Christmas carol that is an example of cultural context?
“Making a perfect Laocooen of himself with his stockings”
Explain why this quote is cultural context.
This is cultural context because a laocooen was a statue in the British museum in the 1800’s and on it was a man getting bitten all around his body by snakes. The man tires to stop it by wriggling around trying to get the snakes off him. Scrooge was like this when putting his stockings on.
Name what Thomas Charlie said that linked with Scrooge.
“Are there no treadmills, giblets even hospitals, even the poor law?”
Explain the quote Charlie said.
This is a similar attitude to Scrooge when he said “are there no prisons?”
