Q

scrooge refers to the poor as “idle”

“*think of people below them as if they really werefellow passengers to the grave.” said by fred

A

scrooge feels he already is being socially responsible, though he does it out of obligation.
using the adjective”‘idle”- shows he does not understand why they are poor or the complexity of poverty
sees the himself as finacially responsible and the poor financially irresponsible

fred argues how christmas is a time when people “*”
“below” can sublty remind the reader the social hierarchy and class system
implieshow people are charitable and kind at Christmas
implies industralistion is a factor which creates a large divide between classes
