Mass customisation
Offering individually tailored goods or services to customers on a large scale.
Producing to order
A strategy in which a business only manufactures a product once in order for that product has been received from a customer. It is often better known as build to order or make to order.
Part-time workers
Permanent employees who work a limited number of hours, such as 15 hours per week, in comparison to full-time employees, who are likely to work between 37 and 40 hours per week.
Temporary workers
People whose employment is subject to a time limit, such as 6 months from the date of appointment or until the completion of a certain project.
Outsourcing
The transfer of activities, which were previously conducted in-house, to a third party, outside of the business.
Offshoring
Used to describe outsourcing/ subcontracting when the activity being transferred takes place in a different country to the contracting company.
