What we xp as romantic love in adulthood is an integration of 3 behavioural systems acquired during infancy.

Relates to the concept of the internal working model from bowlbys theory
Later rels are likely to be a continuation from early attachments styles either secure or insecure.
This is cz the behaviour of the infants primary attachment figure promotes an internal working model of rels which leads to infant to expect the same in later rels
Extreme cases the iwm may lead child to develop attachment disorder

That children learn from their xp with other children.
So they may develop a sense of their own value cz of interaction with others, which determines how they approach adult rels
What did Nangle et al say
Close friendship help a hold become more affectionate, loving, trust u lot hers more easily and reveal secrets which are good traits for later adult rels. If a child had no friends or bad friendship they wouldn’t have these traits so it’d be difficult to maintain a healthy adult rel.

What did madsen do and find
She tested the effects of dating behaviour in adolescence (15/17) on the quality of young adult romantic rels (20/21)
Found that very frequent dating led to decrease in quality of adult romantic rel. But lower frequency or moderate frequency of facing ked to highest quality of adult romantic rel.
