“Wir hatten ein Problem mit einem Computer. Deswegen musste ich heute länger bleiben.”

“Du Armer!”
“Poor you!”
“Sorry ich kann mir nichts darunter vorstellen. Was machst du in deinem Beruf?”
“Sorry but I don’t know what that means. What do you do at your job?”
“Das ist kompliziert. Viel Technik. Sehr anstrengend. Ziemlich langweilig. Was machst du beruflich? “
“It’s complicated. A lot of technology. Very tiring. Pretty boring. What do you do for a living?”
“Aber dafür muss man studieren. Und ich bin manchmal etwas faul.”
“But you have to study for that. And sometimes I’m a little lazy. “
“Ja, “ohne Fleiß kein Preis”, sagen wir hier.”
” Yes, “no pain no gain” (No hard work, no prize), is what we say here.”
“Das Sprichwort kenne ich nicht. Was bedeutet das?”
“I don’t know that expression. What does it mean?”
“Das bedeutet, dass man hart arbeiten muss, damit man etwas erreicht.”
“It means that you have to work hard to achieve something. “
“Ich verstehe. Deshalb sind alle Deutschen so fleißig? Weil sie alle den “Preis” möchten?”
“Iunderstand.IsthatwhyallGermansworkso hard. Because they all want the “prize”?”
“Aber nicht alle. Ich möchte auch manchmal meine Ruhe haben. Nur arbeiten ist nicht gut. Es ist oft stressig. Und ich bin auch oft faul.”
“But not everybody. Sometimes I also like to have some peace and quiet. Only working is not good. It’s often stressful. And I’m also often lazy.”
“Ich finde, wenn man etwas mag, ist es keine Arbeit. Gefällt dir deine Arbeit nicht?”
“I think that if you like something, it’s not really work… don’t you like your job?”
“Naja, es ist nicht mein Traumberuf. Als Kind wollte ich eigentlich Arzt werden.”
“Well, it’s not my dream profession. Actually, when I was a child I wanted to become a doctor.”
“Dann kann ich umsonst mit dir fliegen. Und wir könnten auf der ganzen Welt leben. Was denkst du? “
“Then I can fly with you for free. And we could live all over the world. What do you think?”
“Übrigens… ich habe mich entschieden. Ich bleibe erstmal in Berlin.”
“By the way… I’ve decided. I’m going to stay in Berlin for now.”
“Was für eine Überraschung! Großartig! Das müssen wir feiern! Ich freue mich für dich!”
“What a surprise! Amazing! We have to celebrate that! I’m happy for you!”
“Ich freue mich auch! (Die beiden lächeln und umarmen sich.)”
“I’m happy too! (They smile and hug each other.)”
