AAR Set 1 Flashcards
Which pumps are operated by the blue hyd system?
Pumps 1 and 4
These are next to each other
Which pumps are operated by the green hydraulic system?
Pumps 2, 3 and 6
Plus pump 7 on a 3 point tanker
Which pump is operated by the yellow hydraulic system?
Pump 5
Which engine does the BLUE had system work off?
Engine 1
Which engine does the yellow hyd system work off?
Engine 2
Which engine does the green system work off?
Both engines.
This system works the most amount of pumps
Arcs 1 and 2 control which pumps?
Arc 1 - pumps 1,3,5
Arc 2 - pumps 2,4,6
Pumps 3 and 6 stop operating when fuel in the inner tanks reach…
10 tons (each) Note, MCOM states 9t
Pumps 1 and 2 (centre tank) stop when the tank reaches…
3800kg
3.8t
Pump 4 and 5 stop when the tank reaches…
4000kg
4t
What is the max fuel flow from the pods?
1,250 kg/min
What is the max fuel flow from the FRU?
1800 kg/min
According to the MCOM, what is the approximate length of the hose that can be deployed? (both pods and FRU)
93.5 ft
What conditions must be met for hose priming to take place?
Hose trailed Dispense mode in auto or manual At least one AAR pump armed Receiver selected Pod/FRU isolation valve in auto Aircraft in A/Tkr mode
How far must the receiver push in for the arc to open the isolation valve and transfer fuel?
5 ft
How far in must the receiver push before fuel flow stops?
25 ft
What is the rewind speed of the hose?
4ft/second
How long does the breakaway light flash for?
10 seconds
Temperature shown on the MFCD
TAT and SAT stand for…
Total air temperature
Static air temperature
What length is the FRU considered “short hose”?
Less than 88 ft
What is AAR silent?
vs silent procedures
Once receivers are moved astern, MSO calls continue on the lights.
Once they have disconnected, that’s the end of the AAR silent phase.
(Different from silent procedures which is zero R/T throughout)
Where is the receiver clearance list found?
VOM B, 1.2.3
MSO QRH has 3 emergencies which are not prompted by the WCAS. What are they?
Smoke and fumes
Ditching/forced landing
All engines failure
After an electrical failure (eg lost a TR or Busbar) and all drills have been carried out, if it’s not clear whether AAR can be continued with the remaining systems, where is guidance for the MSO?
QRH, at the very end of emergency procedures section after the computer resets table. Note this is the last place to look as abort AAR / system inop may have been covered in the main QRH drill.
