Q

WHat does fully compensated mean

A

This means that saw the PaCO2 has increased and become more acidic. But the BE and HCO3 have compensated and become more basic. THis has then cause the pH to become compensated and within the normal range

13
Q

How do you figure out PaO2?

A

It should be about 5 times your FiO2 (respiratory reserve ration)
if PaO2 is less than 3 times the FiO2 then the patients have poor respiratory reserve and may not be appropriate to stress further

17
Q

What are benefits of NP

A

No rebreathing of CO2
Better patient compliance - don’t have a mask over mouth
can do more things without removing it
but may cause damage of mucosa in the nose
if not humidified may cause odema and inflam

18
Q

what is the FiO2 of 0.5 L

A

22%

19
Q

VEntrimask

A

Can specifically control the O2 flow and thus concentration by use of valves attached to the masks
