Abiotic and Biotic Flashcards
(5 cards)
1
Q
What are Abiotic (non-living factors) ?
A
- Moisture level
- Light intensity
- Temperature
- Carbon dioxide level
- Wind intensity and direction
- Oxygen level
- Soil Ph and mineral content
2
Q
What does a change in the environment meant to an abiotic factor ?
A
A change in the environment could be an increase or decrease in an abiotic factor e.g. an increase in temperature
3
Q
What can these changes affect ?
A
The size of populations in a community. They means they can also affect the population sizes of other organisms that depend on them
4
Q
What are biotic factors ?
A
- New predators arriving
- Competition (one species many outcompete another so that numbers are too low to breed)
- New pathogens
- Availability of food
