  • CML
  • Physiological- exercise pregnancy, lactation, neonates
  • acute infection
  • acute inflammation
  • drugs: steroids, G-CSF
  • Leukocyte adhesion deficiency
  • smoking (number one cause)

  • drugs: antipsychotics, anti-epilieptics, anti-thyroid, antibiotics
  • chemo
  • immune: lupus, rheumatoid arthritis

A

almost always drug induced:

  • clozapine (anti psychotic)
  • propythiouracil (antithyroid)
  • anti convulsant
  • sulfa and chloramphenicol
  • levamisol cocaine (most common in ER)
