Abrasion, Weathering, Suitability for embossing, Cold working and Dimensional Integrity Flashcards
(5 cards)
Resistance to Abrasion
This refers to how well a material can withstand scraping, scratching, or wearing down over time.
Weathering
This refers to how a material handles exposure to outdoor elements like sunlight, rain, snow, and extreme temperatures.
Suitability for Embossing
Embossing involves creating raised designs on a material’s surface. Materials that are too soft or brittle might crack or tear during embossing. Conversely, very hard materials might not deform enough to create a clear raised design.
Cold Working
This involves shaping a metal at room temperature through processes like bending, rolling, or drawing.
Dimensional Integrity
This refers to a material’s ability to maintain its original shape and size under varying conditions.
