A

Step 5: second reading

A

A debate about the proposed and key areas of the bill. Discussion of concerns and a vote takes place.

Step 6: committee stage

A

Line by line scrutiny of bill and report. Where more examination and a vote on any amendments take place. If there is not enough votes then the bill will not progress any further.

Step 7: third reading

A

known as the tidying up stage, the final amendments are made, and they vote to pass or reject the bill. If the vote passes the bill it goes to the House of Lords where step three and six occur again.
