Central/Main idea
On a sentence that tells you what the text is about, or what the text is trying to teach the readers
Settings
The time period. Can also include the mood of a place.
Key details
Important pieces of imformation that the main idea.
Fact
A detail that can be proven true
Opinion
A statement that expresses a feeling, an attitude, a value judgement, or a belief.
Text features
Components of a book or article that are not part of the main body of text. These text features are for nonfiction.
Table of contents
A list of chapters or sections given at the start of a book.
Heading
A title at the head of a page or section of a book.
Caption
A title or explanation of an illustration or pictures to help the readers understand
Illustrations
A drawing
Index
An alphabetical list of keywords and topics that appear in a document.
Glossary
A list of terms and definitions that are specific to a document or a field of study.
