How do ACE inhibitors work?
A
Interact with ACE active site to prevent conversion of angiotensin 1 to angiotensin 2.

What is the clinical use of ACE inhibitors?
A
treatment for hypertension, MI, chronic heart failure.

What are the side effects of these drugs?
A
Cough (due to bradykinin), hyperkalaemia, first dose hypotension, angioedema. Renal failure can occur.

What can be given alongside for treatment of the major side effect of ACE inhibitors?
A
Losartan for the dry cough (angiotensin 2 receptor antagonist)
