ACIM Flashcards
(117 cards)
What is the attitude of non-dualism guiding you to recognize?
The attitude of non-dualism tells me that what I am seeing is not the truth.
If the Truth is that everything perceived isn’t true, what logical deduction should be made about my internal reactions to this world?
I should be asking myself “what’s the point or value in expending energy in judging something that isn’t there?”.
If this world is an illusion then why does it matter to me what is happening in this illusion - in this “world” in which I believe I am a body?
The simple Truth is that this illusion IS having an impact on me NOT because it’s real, but because I have GIVEN it a power it does not and cannot have.
Do the actions I take or don’t take matter in this world?
It doesn’t matter what actions you take or don’t take in the world—what DOES matter is my way of SEEING and the ATTITUDE I maintain while engaging in any action.
What about my earthly needs and concerns? How ill I know what to do and how to live?
Of course, as long as you appear to exist within the world of multiplicity, you will have some temporary earthly concerns, and we do not intend to ignore your worldly needs. The Holy Spirit isn’t stupid. The way to go through life now, is to always join with the Holy Spirit and / or Jesus, while doing what you call “your” life.
So I am to consider the Holy Spirit as my True guide. As my boss even though I appear to be my own boss? And I can be practical and use my intelligence to make my life as successful and efficient as possible?
Yes! We’re not suggesting you shouldn’t be practical and take care of yourself. It’s just that your real boss won’t be of this world. You don’t even have to tell anybody you’re not the boss if you don’t want to. If you want to have your own business and look like you’re the boss, then fine. Make it work the best way you feel guided to. BE GOOD TO YOURSELF.
Which is more important - the work I do or the mental attitude I have while doing my job?
It’s your mental attitude we’re really concerned with, not what you appear to do. Eventually, you will come to see anything you do to make a living as an illusion to support you in the illusion, without really supporting the illusion.
What important ability am I acquiring with the attitude of pure non-dualism I.e. That the world - the sum total of my experience isn’t true?
With the attitude of non-dualism, you are acquiring the ability to question all of your judgments and beliefs. Because all my judgements and beliefs are based on the dualistic attitude that I am a body in a world outside my body.
If there isn’t anything such as a subject and object, then what exactly does exist ?
There is only oneness.
There are two kinds of oneness what are they and which one is the ultimate experience or reality?
The oneness Buddha experienced was with the mind. It’s an imitation of the genuine oneness Jesus experienced and guides us to experience through ACIM. Few have learned to make the distinction between being one with the mind that has seemingly separated itself from God, and being one with God. The seemingly separated mind MUST ultimately be returned to Him.
What do you learn from traditional non-dualism?
I have learned I can’t really separate one thing from anything else—nor can I separate anything from myself.
How is Newtonian and Quantum physics different in explaining the objective universe?
Newtonian physics held that objects were real and outside of you with a separate existence. Quantum physics demonstrates that this is not true. The universe is not what you assume it to be; everything that appears to exist is really INSEPARABLE THOUGHT. You can’t even observe something without causing a change in it on the sub-atomic level.
So, what is the correct way to describe where everything, including my body, is?
Everything is in your mind, including your own body.
Describe the nature and “location” of the thinking mind.
The thinking mind is ONE and is thinking EVERYTHING, this mind is completely outside the illusion of time and space.
Regarding the One thinking mind, what aspect of this ONE mind, is not taught by any philosophy except ACIM, and which won’t be very popular with people?
That this mind is itself also an illusion.
What is the key, crux, crucial, vital, essential and core point to deduce from this statement of Truth:
“Nothing but unity exists?”
Then, anything other than unity must have been made up. It’s an illusion.
What was Jesus’ attitude regarding the ultimate Truth?
His is the awareness of pure non-dualism, the end of the road, the final stop.
What is the correct perspective on learning this truth? On traveling this road through the four phases of coming to Truth?
Each of the four major attitudes of learning are long roads in themselves, and you will sometimes bounce around like a Ping-Pong ball in between them. The Holy Spirit will correct you along the way and set you back in the right direction. Do not feel bad when you temporarily lose your way. There is no one who has ever walked this earth, including J, who did not give in to temptation in some way. The myth of living a perfect life in terms of behavior is self-defeating and unnecessary. All that is necessary is to be willing to receive correction.
Today I should be willing to do what? What is the correct attitude to have today?
Simply be open to correction.
It’s not about getting it right. The real question is?
How long do I want to prolong my suffering?
In reality, when you judge what are you doing?
Chaining myself to a body and a world that I am making psychologically real form by failing to forgive.
If nothing I see or experience is real - from the perspective of God, then what is the inner attitude I should develop when I encounter resistance of any kind?
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide my thoughts so that they deeply grasp that what is happening right now isn’t real.
It’s true that matter appears out of nowhere. What’s less obvious, and yet necessary to realize, is that after it appears it is still nowhere. All space is empty and non-existent, even the tiny fraction of it that appears to contain something. We’ll explain what that something is eventually. As far as thoughts making images appear, a more accurate way of putting it would be that one thought made all images appear, because they all represent the same thing in seemingly different forms.

What is happening now
The activity that is happening now is orchestrated to mirror the first time My mind identified with the ego and ran from God in fear
