excessive sweating + oily skin - sweat gland hypertrophy
fx pituitary tumour - hypopitutarism, headaches, bitemporal hemianopia
raised prolactin -> galactorrhoea
6% of patients have MEN-1

hypertension
diabetes >10%
cadiomyopathy
colorectal cancer

why is random GH level NOT diagnostic for acromegaly
A
growth hormone levels vary throughout the day

serum IGF-1 levels
if raised –> OGTT to confirm diagnosis
- lack of suppression of GH during OGTT

using serum IGF-1

first line management of acromegaly
A
tran-sphenoidal surgery !!
if inoperable;
- somatostatin analogue = octreotide
