-plea echoes the bible passage
-in the book of revelations which describes the apocalypse, the end of the world, during which god destroys evil and evil doers and rewards those who are righteous or morally worthy by allowing them to enter a new divine kingdom
- he begs the earth to hide him, foolish notion born of desperation as religion teaches that god is all knowing and all seeing

“Ah Pythagoras metemphsychosis were that true” - F
- he tries to bargain with god to reduce the length of time he’s in heaven
- he curses that he even has a soul and wishes Pythagoras’ theory of the transmigration of souls were true
This is the notion that the soul after the body dies moves onto another

- vows to burn his books if God will spare him
- tradition was considered proof that a magician is abandoning magic
- unfortunately the promise comes to late
