polyarthritis

O = Pancarditis
[Endo,myo,epi ] =rheumatic heart disease

N = Nodules
E = Erythema
marginatum

S = Sydenham
Chorea (jerky movements)

Minor Criteria

A

-Fever

-↑ESR & ↑CRP
-Arthralgia(unless there is polyarthritis it considered major )
-Long PR interval

Treatment

A

Penicillin or Amoxicillin for 10 days or
1 dose Benzathine
( penicillin IM)

A

Macrolides [Erythromycin for 10 days ,
Azithromycin for 5 days or , clindamycin for 10 days]

Give also Steroids for 2- 3 weeks , then
start with Aspirin for 6 weeks.
