Neuronal development disorder
This is where the growth and development of the brain or centra nervous system is affected causing developmental inappropriate levels of attention, activity and impulsivity compared to peers

They may experience:
- Difficulty getting started on tasks
- Difficult organising and prioritising tasks
- Misunderstands direction
How is focus affected in someone with ADHD ?
They may:
- Lose focus on a task
- Unable to focus for as long as necessary; distractible
- Difficult being selective
How is effort Affected in someone with ADHD ?
They may experience:
- Difficulty regulating sleep and alertness; quickly loose interest
- Difficulty completing tasks on time
How is emotion Affected in someone with ADHD ?
Emotions impact too much on thoughts and actions; cant put things to the ‘back of mind’
How is memory affected in someone with ADHD ?
They may:
- Forget to do planned tasks
- Difficulty recalling learning material; looses tract of papers

Does tasks too fast, not careful enough; difficulty adjusting words and actions to settings
What are the additional issues associated with ADHD ?
Impairment in executive function
Daily living impairments related to ADHD symptoms- difficulties with independent living, employment, further education, social relationships
Mental health issues- anxiety, depression, low self esteem, poor anger control
Other neurodevelopment conditions- autism, Tourette syndrome
Personality disorder- antisoical, borderline

How can we gather quality information about someone with ADHD in order to make a diagnosis ?
Gather corroborative evidence of current symptoms across at leas 2 different environments using history and observations, interviews and questions
The easiest way to do this is through a questionnaire first and then an interview
What are the non-pharmacological treatments for ADHD ?
CBT for ADHD Remedition Restructuting Medication Psychology interventions Parenting interventions such as 123 magic School liaison Psycho-education for service users and parents
How can you help someone with ADHD manage money ?
Shop with cash only- (leave bank cards at home)
Have only one back card to keep track
Take a list of what you need and stick to it
Keep a running total whilst showing (calculator on mobile phone)
Stay away from places where you know you likely to spend too much
Throw catalogues that come in the post away as soon as they arrive so they are not tempting
