LIST THEM AND WHY
Hardworking – She was a “good worker” at Mr Birling’s factory, suggesting dedication and effort.
Desperate – Forced to seek help from different sources (Birling’s factory, Milwards, the charity), showing how little power or support she had.
Proud – She “wouldn’t take stolen money” from Eric, even when in need, showing integrity.
Independent – Despite her struggles, she tried to stand on her own and refused help when it came in the wrong way.
Moral – She behaved with more honour than some of the upper-class characters, like refusing Eric’s money.
Vulnerable – Constantly exploited by those in power (Birling, Sheila, Gerald, Mrs Birling, Eric).
Forgotten – A symbol of the working class, often dismissed and erased by society.
Symbolic – Represents the many unnamed people suffering in silence (“millions of Eva Smiths and John Smiths”).
Resilient – She kept going despite being knocked down multiple times, showing emotional strength.
Invisible – No voice of her own in the play; speaks only through others, reflecting how the poor were often unheard.
