What is the difference between sex and gender?
Sex refers to the biological characteristics that differentiate individuals into female and male, while gender refers to the norms, behaviors, and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl, or boy.
What are the main characteristics of human reproduction?
- Each sex produces a different type of sex cell or gamete.
- Fertilisation is internal; it takes place inside the female reproductive system.
- We are viviparous; the foetus grows in the mother’s womb.
- We are sexually dimorphic; males and females have physical differences.

Fertilisation is the joining of the male and female gametes.

Reproduction involves several processes:

What physical changes occur during puberty?
Physical changes during puberty include: Girls : mamary glands develop and menstruation. Boys: facial and body hair grows and the voice became deeper. Both: Body changes and grows taller, sex organs mature and body odour.
What are common psychological and social changes during adolescence?
Common changes include mood changes, independence, the need to belong to a social group, impulsive behaviour.
What does it mean to be viviparous?
Being viviparous means that the foetus grows inside the mother’s womb.
