Define mood disorders.
Group of disorders involving severe deviations in mood, ranging from elation to severe depression.
Mood disorders are composed of 3 pathological mood episodes.
- Major depressive episode.
- Manic episode.

Inability to experience pleasure.
Define Manic episode.
Period of abnormally elevated mood, with 3 or more specific symptoms.

Same symptoms as manic episode but milder, lasts at least 4 days, and there are no psychotic symptoms present.

Person feels either depressed or elated.
Bipolar mood disorder.
Person feels alterations between depressed or elated moods.
Mixed features in mood.
Person experiences both depressed and elated mood at the same time.

Mood disorder involving one or more (separated by 2 months) major depressive episodes.
