Synonymous
Having the same, or nearly the same, meaning. “Synonym” - Noun.
Sense
The meaning of a word or a phrase.
Interchangeable
If two things are interchangeable, you can use one in place of the other, and the effect will be the same.
Ambiguous
Not clear: able to be explained in different ways. “Ambiguity” - Noun.
Interpret
Decide that something has a particular meaning. “Interpretation” - Noun.
Transparent
Easy to understand. OPP - Opaque.
Self-explanatory
Easy to understand and does not need more explanation.
Precise
Clear and accurate. SYN: Exact or “Precision” - Noun.
Virtually
Almost: very nearly (virtually the same/ impossible/ certain.)
“Irony” - Noun. “Ironic” - Adj.
The use of the words to say the opposite of what you mean. Often humorously, (a trace/ hint of irony = a little irony.)
“Sarcasm” - Noun. “Sarcastic” - Adjective
The use of words to say the opposite of what you mean in order to be unpleasant to sb or make fun of sb.
Figurative
(of words) not used with their literal meaning.
Literary
Used for the kind of language you find in stories and poems.
Pejorative
Expressing disapproval or criticism. A synonym could be “derogatory”.
Insulting
Rude or offensive (deliberately/ highly insulting)
