The woman asked Alfred to watch over some cakes baking by the fire.
Alfred was distracted and accidentally let the cakes burn.
The woman scolded Alfred for his negligence.
Alfred was embarrassed and ashamed, so he scattered the cakes to get rid of the evidence.
