What are age differences in religion (Brierley)?
The projected figure in 2025 is as your age increase you are most likely to become religious.
In the 1980’s those that are younger than 15 and over 44 are most likely to be religious.
This was also the same in 2015. However, religion in under 15’s since 1980’s to 2025 has decreased but the opposite has happened with over 65’s.
What does Heelas state bout ageing religion?
‘Ageing effect’
People become more religious as they age through life experiences.
E.g. Childbirth and grief.
What are Voas and Crocketts three key reasons for age differences?
Ageing Effect (Heelas)
Period of cohort effect (When you are born) - those born in period times are more likely to be religious.
Secularisation ‘progressive decline’.
