Q

When doing a rolling take-off IAW supplement 58, when does take off power need to be set by? Are there any considerations to this?

A

50kts. With a strong head wind it will be difficult so consider a static take-off.

2
Q

Can you do a rolling take off on a runway that is designated static? How much additional runway is required?

A

Yes, 80 meters. You can either use full length on what is normally an intersection departure, or add 80m to STODA, TORA and ASDA.

3
Q

What is the definition of a wet runway?

A

It has sufficient water on the surface to appear reflective, but without significant areas of standing water.

4
Q

What are some things that are prohibited when taking off from a wet runway?

A

Take-off with flap 0
Take off with anti skid inop
Operation from unpaved/gravel runways
Autofeather system inop

5
Q

What is the maximum temperature / assumed temperature when using RTOW charts?

A

48.9 or ISA + 35

6
Q

If a chart is published for various flap configurations, which should be used and why?

A

Flap 5 normally as it provides a better second segment climb gradient.

7
Q

Can XXX charts be used for take-off and landing in IMC conditions and at night?

A

They can only be used for take off by day in VMC and the PIC must be satisfied that if an engine fails, terrain clearance can be visually maintained.
XXX charts can be used for landings in IMC and at night

8
Q

For a DHC8 200 can data from the 250ft and 2000ft charts be interpolated?

A

Yes

9
Q

What abnormal configurations can the AIRPORTMAX software produce RTOW data for?

A

Anti skip inop
Nose wheel steering inop
Autofeather inop
ECU inop
