Aircraft System Knowledge Flashcards
2015
Which Dome light is available on battery power and what position?
2016
It’s night time and you have just lost AC power. What portion, if any, of the cockpit lighting is available on battery power only?
FO’s Bright or Dim.
You see a flashing OPEN light next to the Cockpit door switch (with the associated alarm) What does this mean?
What does the LOCK position do on this switch?
1) Someone has started the emergency access procedure.
2) The cockpit door is locked, emergency access is no available for 5-20 minutes.
2015
Our SOP is to leave the NO SMOKING sign in the auto position.
What happens with the switch in the ON position vs the AUTO position.
In either case the No Smoking signs are lit.
In AUTO, the batteries charge and the EXIT signs illuminate when the landing gear is extended and extinguish when the gear is retracted.
2015 / 2016
With the EMER EXIT LT selector to ARM, when will the emergency light system illuminate and what two additional triggers will turn on the EXIT SIGNS?
Loss of electrical power will turn on the exit lights.
Exit signs will come on with Excessive cabin altitude, and when the gear comes down.
2015 / 2016
What position are the Pack Flow control valves in when the packs are supplied by the APU?
High flow,
High flow also in single pack operation regardless of selector position.
2015
What is the purpose of the ditching switch?
Sends a “close signal” to the inlets and valves below the water line.
Outflow valve
Ram air inlet
Avionics inlet and extract
Pack flow control valves.
2015
During taxi in with one engine running, you see a fault on Pack 2. How would you supply air to Pack 2.
X bleed selector to open.
2015 / 2016
With both engines and the APU running (bleed air on and X bleed switch in Auto)
What is the position of the X Bleed switch and the Engine bleed valves?
X Bleed valve is open.
Engine bleed valves are closed
2015
When does the AUTO function of the STROBE Light switch turn the strobes on.
Weight off wheels.
2015
If the pressurization schedule cannot be automatically set by the FMGS, how would you set the cabin pressure landing elevation to 2350?
Pull and rotate the LANDING ELEV AUTO knob to set the desired landing elevation.
2015
What is the effect of selecting the ECON FLOW to ON.
A reduced flow is commanded. (Approximately 20% less than normal)
2015
If you select EXPED mode. What do you need to do to get out of this mode.
Select another vertical mode.
2014/2015/2016
On takeoff, what speed does SRS command?
A) Normally - both engines?
B) If an engine failure is detected?
A) V2 + 10
B) The greater of V2, the current speed, but limited to V2+15.
2015
When does the airplane come out of SRS mode?
At Acceleration altitude, Alt*, Alt Cst, or when another vertical mode is engaged.
When does SRS change to another vertical mode?
At acceleration altitude or when another vertical mode is selected.
2014/2015
During takeoff, when does the auto thrust become active?
When the thrust lever is moved to the Climb detent.
What does the lateral mode RWY represent.
Runway mode is engaged.
Provides steering guidance during takeoff roll and initial climb if a localizer is available.
2014/2015/2016
Based on the FMA, what changes will take place if HDG is pulled.
THR CLB/ CLB / NAV
ALT
NAV mode will change to HDG,
CLB mode will change to OP CLB.
2014/2015/2016
Based on the FMA, what changes will take place if HDG is pulled.
THR IDLE / DES / NAV
ALT
NAV mode will change to HDG,
DEC mode will change to vertical speed.
Is Managed DEC mode available if speed is Selected?
Yes.
2014/2015/2016
During an ILS, you see LAND (green) on the FMA.
At what altitude do you expect this?
What does it mean?
Below 400’ RA.
Land indicates that the LOC and GS modes are locked.
No action on the FCU will change LAND mode.
Flare and Rollout modes will engage.
2014/2015
During an autoland, FLARE is indicated, what should the autopilot and auto thrust be doing?
2016 When do you expect FLARE to appear
Autopilot aligns yaw axis with the runway centerline and flares in pitch.
Autothrust reduces thrust to idle.
- 40’ RA
2014/2015/2016
What are the three methods available to disconnect the Autothrust?
Which of these will cause Thrust Lock?
Press the instinctive disconnect push button.
Move both thrust levers to idle.
Push the A/THR pb on the FCU. (This will cause Thrust Lock)
2015
During an auto land, what does Rollout indicate
The autopilot is guiding the aircraft down the centerline and the Yaw bar is displayed on the PFD.
