Answer 1

Low frequency jet ventilation i.e. 8 to 30 jets / minute

Uses the concept of convective ventilation or Bulk Flow Ventilation, whereby there is mass flow of air in and out of the lungs and gas exchange is determined by tidal volume, dead space volume and respiratory rate.

I.e. it is similar to normal physiology

High frequency jet ventilation I.e. 120-300 jets / minute

The tidal volumes are smaller than the dead space, there are several mechanisms that postulate how ventilation occurs.
