All believers have motivational gifts Flashcards
(25 cards)
All believers have
motivational gifts.
These gifts were place in us
at the time of the born again experience
Understanding these gifts will help others and
the individual understand their specific place & role in the body of Christ. (the local church).
Never should these gifts be used for the purpose
of self-promotion and self-gratification.
These gifts are to be used to benefit the
local church–to cause it to grow up in love.
Love must be the primary motivation while
operating in our individual foundational/motivational gifts.
There are seven foundational/motivational gifts.
Generally, one of the seven gifts will be predominate in the individual’s life.
Prophecy:
not a prediction; speaking the mind or counsel of God.
The person that o_______ in this grace/motivational gift __ ___necessarily called to the office of prophet,
though they can be. Just because an individual has a grace/motivational gift of prophecy does not make them (him/her) a prophet.
Servicing (Ministry):
to be a servant, attendant, wait upon to serve. They carry the heart of a servant.
Teaching: (Teacheth):
to learn (that which is taught, doctrine–the instruction of informal doctrine – training.
This individual is not necessarily called
to the fivefold ministry office of the teacher.
This individual can teach Sunday school, children classes, etc. and do some informal training with great success.
They have some organizational skills and love providing information to anyone who will listen.
Encouraging (Exhortheth):
call near, entreat, invite, invoke, comfort
This gift direct people towards an expected or likely end.
Therefore, the individuals that have this gift will exhort/encourage the body to do the word of God.
Giver (Giveth):
share, impart, to give over.
This individual gives without any expectation
of someone giving a corresponding return. It brings great joy to them to give.
Ruler (Ruleth)
to stand before, to lead (attend to) be over, preside
This individual can frequently be found, of course, in leadership.
Bishop Butler is an excellent example of one that rules with diligence. He/she that ruleth does not have time for hindrances. Their mindset is complete the job and move on to the next assignment.
Often times the individual does not realize this gift is operating in them, they may comment,
“does not everyone do it this way?” They seem to never tire with their assignment.
This individual can be frustrated if things do not go as planned.
But with a little encouragement, they are quickly back to ruling with diligence.
Mercy:
have compassion, to feel sympathy with the misery
This individual has empathy/sympathy for the hurting.
They will go to great lengths to help someone, because o this mercy gift.
It may even appear that this person has simply gone too far in helping someone,
to the point it appears that they are being misused.
