metaphor- this emphasises how he can’t touch anything at all or it will turn into gold and how he is losing body parts since his wish came true. Writer does this by showing the audience how his wish has had a negative impact on his life and how he literally can’t touch or do anything, not even eat, meaning he will probably die of starvation.

what gets me now is not the idiocy or greed but lack of thought for me.
Word choice- explores the selfish nature of relationships, not only affected him but also deprived them both of physical relationship and his wife of a chance to have her dream baby.
