Q

How do you calculate density altitude?

A

Using a chart

First take your field elevation and correct for non-standard temperature using the chart

Plot your X coordinate by subtracting the pressure altitude by the density altitude the following the slanting line.

Plot your Y coordinate using the temperature

Make a horizontal line at the intersecting point of the X and Y axis. That is your density altitude.
