A hooverville is a slum like camp, which is where the poor migrants took refuge. With tents and shacks, that’s why it was a depressing and unpleasant place to live. It originated from the past president- Henry Hoover, also known as the ‘Do nothing President’, as he literally did nothing to benefit America and ultimately, ended up in one of these camps, selling apples
