Why did Britain impose many new taxes on the 13 colonies?
To pay for the 7 years war. It was very costly
When and what was the sugar act?
It was in 1764, a tax on many imported products including sugar
When and what was the stamp act?
In 1765 and it was a tax on every printed paper that used including licenses, newspapers…
When and what were the Townshend acts?
In 1767 and taxes on various important products including glass and tea
Why were the 13 colonies mad? (Other than the fact that they had all these taxes)
They had no representative for the 13 colonies
When and what was the tea act?
The British gave British east India company a monopoly over the tea trade in the colonies. It was very expensive to buy tea because it was coming from india
What was the Boston tea party?
In response to all these taxes, the 13 colonies stormed 3 British shops in the Boston harbour and threw chests of tea overboard
What were the intolerable acts?
In 1774, the parliament adopted a series of laws because they were mad at the 13 colonies about the Boston tea party
Massachusetts government act
People in Massachusetts could no longer elect their government.
Administration of justice act
British public servants who allegedly committed a crime could ask to be tried in London
Boston part act
Boston harbour was closed until the destroyed chests of tea had been reimbursed
Quartering act
The unoccupied buildings in the colony could be used to house British soldiers
How did the 13 colonies react to the intolerable acts?
The representatives of the 13 colonies met in Philadelphia to organize a resistance movement. Battles broke up

George Washington
What did the Declaration of Independence say?
Americans were no longer colonists but citizens of a free state independent from Britain
How did Britain respond to the Declaration of Independence?
They rejected it and the American Revolution began

Britain and the treaty of Paris (a second one) was signed. It recognized American Independence
Because of the American constitution, what happened to the territory In the USA and in Quebec?
The territories south of Great Lakes (Ohio valley and former native territory) were added to the USA
Quebec was much smaller
Native territory was eliminated
Who did the 13 colonies go to war with, when and where did they invade?
Went with Great Britain in 1775 and invaded Quebec
Was the city fine after the siege of Quebec City?
No it fell and was occupied by the 13 colonies
Who were the loyalists?
English people who were loyal to the British and didn’t like how the 13 colonies got their independence
Where did the loyalist leave an where did they go?
They left usa and went to Nova Scotia, also to Quebec
When the loyalists came did they have a lot of money and resources?
No they often worked the land
Explain what the population of Quebec was like before and after the loyalists came
Before- there weren’t a lot of British people but now the loyalist increased the population of English speaking colonists
