What is the Stop-effekt?
The image has a calm, harmonious composition, but the light and large tree trunks create focal points. The stop effect occurs especially where sunlight breaks through the foliage, attracting the eye and causing us to pause.
What are the layers in an image?
Foreground: Grass, flowers, and possibly a path or forest floor.
Middleground: The tree trunks, forming the backbone of the composition.
Background: Bright forest interior and sky or horizon through the branches.
Layering creates depth and makes the image lifelike.
How do lines function in the image?
The vertical lines from the tree trunks dominate and provide calm and stability. Light stripes and shadows create diagonal lines that guide the eye into the image. The direction of the branches and the shape of the treetops suggest upward and outward movement.
What is the effect of cropping in the image?
The trees are cropped at the top, so we do not see their full height. This gives a sense that the forest continues beyond the frame, as if one is standing in the forest. It draws the viewer into the work and creates presence.
What perspective is used in the image?
Central perspective with slightly inward lines creates the feeling of looking into the forest. Atmospheric perspective is also used, with colors and details becoming more muted in the background.

How is weighting applied in the image?
The image is balanced, but there is slightly more weight on the left side (depending on the version), where some trees may be larger. The asymmetrical balance makes it natural and lively, not stiff.
