define Agonist and Antagonist
Agonist: primary mover (contrasting)
Antagonist- opposing muscle (relaxing)
what do antagonist and agonist do?
work in sequence to create movement (pushing on both feet)
DORSI flexor vs PLANTAR flexor
dorsi: flex your foot (point toes to nose)
plantar: point toes (if you can point, you do not have enough tension)
5 muscles to stretch
1) kalf
2) Quads
3) Hamstring
4) Glute
5) Hip flexer
how do you stretch the KALF
-stand up on bike (add tension)
-put one leg back, knee straight, heel flat
-switch
how do you stretch the QUADS
-stand with your feet hip-width apart
-then lift one foot, bending the knee
-bring heel towards glute
how do you stretch the HAMSTRING
-put one leg up on bike (handle bars or seat)
-bend standing leg a bit
hinge forward
how do you stretch the GLUTE
-figure-4 stretch
-stand tall
-cross one ankle over the opposite knee
-gently hinge forward from your hips
how do you stretch the HIP FLEXER
-lunge
-step forward with one leg
-keep your front knee bent
-back knee slightly off ground
