how do we divide the regions of the abdomen
we divide it by invisible lines, we have the subcostal plane and then the intertubercular lines. these are crossed with the mid clavicular lines to make the 9 segments of the abdomen, these are helpful for when we examine the abdomen of a patient
what can the lesser omentum also be called
the ventral mesogastrium
what are the folds of the stomach called and what makes them
the rugae are the folds of the stomach which are made by mucosal folds
whats different about the muscularis mucosae of the stomach
it has 3 layers, innermost oblique, inner circular then outer longitudinal
what is the duodenum to the jejunum called
the DJ flexure
what are the areas of the stomach called
the fundus at the top, the cardia is a small start bit, the body, and then the pyloric antrum which ends at the pyloric sphincter
what does the transpyloric plane go through
the pyloric sphincter and it also goes through the gall bladder
what connects the liver to the anterior wall of the abdomen
the falciform ligament - this is also what divides the liver into its two lobes
what carries the hepatic circulation
the lesser mesentery carries the portal triad to the liver
how can we go from the greater sac to the lesser sac
Via the omental foramen which takes us between the IVC and the portal triad of the liver.
Through the greater omentum
Through the lesser Omentum
through the transverse mesocolon
Gastrosplenic ligament - between stomach and the spleen
