Anatomy Flashcards
(42 cards)
Perineum
located inferior to pelvic diaphragm
Perineal Diamond
Ischial tuberosities divide into 2 triangles
- Urogenital triangle
- anal triangle
Central tendon of perioneal body
Located just anterior to anus –> very important
Perineal membrane
attaches between ischiopubic rami
Superficial perineal fascia
Colles’ fascia
fused campers and scarpas layers
FEMALE –> attaches to perineal membrane
MALE –> also has superficial dartos fascia layer
Muscles of superficial perineal pouch
Sides of triangle –> ischiocavernosus
Base of triangle –> superficial transverse perineal muscle
Close to vagina/penis –> bulbospongiosus
Clitoris
has 2 crura, a body, and gland
Deep perineal space
External sphincter urethrae (spirals around urethra)
Sphincter urethrovaginalis (spirals around urethra and vagina)
Deep transverse perineal muscle
Internal pudendal artery (female)
Has 4 branches
- Inferior rectal
- Perineal
- Labial
- Clitoral
Pudendal nerve (female)
4 branches
- inferior rectal
- perineal (superficial and deep)
- posterior labial (anterior labial is from ilioinguinal)
Buck’s fascia
dense covering around shaft of penis that compresses it during an erection
Penis erectile anatomy
Crus —> corposa cavernosa –> deep artery runs inside
Bulb –> corpus spongiosum
Deep dorsal vein, dorsal artery and nerve
ALL enclosed by buck’s fascia
Pudendal nerve (male)
4 branches
- inferior rectal
- perineal
- posterior scrotal (anterior from ilioinguinal)
- dorsal nerve of penis
Pudendal artery (male)
5 branches
- inferior rectal
- perineal artery
- deep artery of penis (in corposa cavernosa)
- dorsal artery of penis
- posterior scrotal
Parasympathetic stimulation of penis?
vasodilation of deep artery –> compression by buck’s fascia –> compresses vein –> keeps blood in penis
Ischioanal fossa
filled with fat
pelvic brim
inlet, divides greater (false) pelvis from lesser (true pelvis)
Posterior sacroiliac ligaments
connects PSIS to sacrum
resists forward rotation of upper sacrum
Sacrospinous ligament
connects ischial spine to sacrum
resists backward rotation of lower sacrum
Sacrotuberous ligament
connects ischial tuberosity to sacrum
resists backward rotation of lower sacrum
Rectovesical pouch
peritoneal reflection between bladder and rectum in male
- rectum comes through the pararectal fossa
Deep inguinal ring in male
ductus deferens and testicular vessels travel through deep ring through canal
Peritoneal reflections in female
Vesicouterine pouch –> between bladder and uterus
Rectouterine pouch –> between rectum and uterus
Round ligament of uterus
travels into deep inguinal ring and through canal (remnant of gubernaculum)
