Inferior thyroid artery- 3rd pharyngeal arch

Help ball park the location of a small thyroid adenoma. This can allow for a more minimally invasive surgery.

What’s the first branch of the internal carotid artery in the neck?
There is none, though the external carotid has a few, the first of which is the superior thyroid artery.
What can happen if you stimulate the carotid body during surgery?
It can cause brady cardia
