Stable vs unstable
A
Stable:
- Only when exercising- increased 02 demands/ blood flow
- Can be relived by rest/ GTN
Unstable: at rest

What is angina
A
Chest pain due to narrowing of blood vessels to the heart which leads to restriction of blood to the heart

FBC U&Es Lipid profile Hb1AC ECG - ST depression ETT CT angiography

Immediate management
A
Immediate: GTN spray- leads to vasodilation which relieves symptoms

Long term medical management
A
Beta blocker
CCB
OR
- long acting nitrates
- Nicorandil
- Ivabradine
- Ranolazine

Secondary prevention
A
- Aspirin : 75-100mg
- ACEI
- Atorvastatin: reduces LDL deposition
- Clopidogrel

Surgical management
A
PCI- Balloon stent
CABG- stent usually from great saphenous

Aetiology
A
- Atheroma
- Anaemia
- Vasculitis / arterititis

Presentation
A
- Chest pain radiating to jaw, neck, shoulders, arms
- Symptoms brought on by exertion
- Relieved within 5 mins by GTN
