Animal And Plant Cells Flashcards
(21 cards)
What does the nucleus do?
It contains genetic material which controls the activity of the cell
What is the cytoplasm?
A gel-like substance where most chemical reactions happen.
What is the cell membrane?
It holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out of the cell
What do the mitochondria do?
They are where most reactions for aerobic respiration take place. This converts energy for the cell to use
What are the ribosomes?
The proteins are made in the ribosomes
What is a cell wall?
A rigid structure made of cellulose which supports and strengthens the cell.
What is the permanent vacuole?
It contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts
What are the chloroplasts?
These are where photosynthesis occurs, which makes food for the plant. They contain a green substance called chlorophyll, which absorbs the light needed for photosynthesis
Which cell contains a cell wall?
Plant cell
