ankle & foot Flashcards
(11 cards)
Gastrocnemius
O: two heads, one above each femoral condyle
I: a broad aponeurosis into the achilles
A: knee flexion and ankle plantarflexion
Soleus
O: popliteal line of the tibia, upper 1/3 of the posterior fibula
I: a tendonous aponeurosis on the posterior surface of the muscle narrowing into tendon of the gastro
A: ankle plantar flexion
Posterior Tibialis
O: posterior surface of the interposes membrane and the adjacent tibial and fibula
I: Tuberosity of the navicular, fibrous expansion to adjacent tarsal goes and the bases of the metatarsals
A: Inversion and assists in plantar flexion of the ankle
Flexor Digitorum Longus
O: Tibia, below populates
I: The tendon enters the sole of the foot near the sestentaculum talk and divides into 4 tendons that attach into the bases of the distal phalanges of the 2-5 digits
A: Flex MTP and IP jts and plantar flexion of the ankle
Flexor hallicus longus
O: posterior surface of the fibula and inter muscular septa
I: base of the distal phalanx of the great toe
A: Flexion of the great toe MTP and IP its and ankle plantarflexion
Fibularis Longus
O: major attachement: near head of the fibula. Secondaary attachments: tibia, fibula, and inter muscular septum
I: plantar surface of the 1st cuneiform and base of 1st metatarsal
A: eversion and planter flexion of the ankle, depression of the head of the first metatarsal
FIbularis Brevis
O: fibula, lower than the longs
I: Dorsal surface of the tuberosity of the 5th metatarsal
A: Eversion/plantarflexion of the ankle
Anterior Tibialis
O: lateral tibial plateu, proximal 1/2 of fibula, interosseus membrane
I: medial cuneiform, base of the 1st metatarsal
A: Dorsiflexion of the ankle
Extensor Hallicus Longus
O: middle fibula, interosseus membrane
I: base of distal phalanx of great toe
A: Extension of the 1st MTP, IP its and dorsiflexion
Extensor Digitorum Longus
O: upper part of the tibia and fibula, interposes membrane, inter muscular septa and fascia
I: 4 tendons go to the bases of the middle and distal phalanges of the 4 lesser toes
A: Extend MTP, IP jts of 4 lesser toes. dorsiflexion and eversion of the ankle
Extensor Digitorum Brevis
O: dorsolateral surface of the foot
I: 4 tendons attach to base of the proximal phalanx of great toe and lateral sides of the EDL tendons of the 2-4 digits
A; Extension of the MTP its of the medial 4 toes
