These were inventions that caused populated areas to grow and more products to be produced. Cotton gin was especially impactful, producing more cotton. Since a lot more cotton was being produced, more slaves were needed to grow cotton.

How did Fugitive Slave Act impact the US during the antebellum?
All slaves from the south that escaped to the North had to be returned to their owner in the south. Divided the country even more and didn't allow anymore slaves to become free.

Although this territory was above the line and was meant to be free, it was decided that the people in the land would vote if slavery would be allowed; popular Sovereignty.
