(44 cards)
Landmarks on femur
- Greater trochanter
- Intertrochanteric line
- lesser trochnater
- quadrate tubercle
- gluteal tuberosity
- pectineal line
- linea aspera
Landmarks on the distal femur and on the tibia
Femur –> adductor tubercle, medial epicondyle of femur
Tibia –> Medial condyle of tibia, tibial tuberosity
List the muscles of the anterior thigh
- iliospoas
- pectineus
- sartorius
- quadriceps femoris (rectus femoris, vatus lateralis, vastus medialis, vatus intermedius)
Attachment of iliopsoas
lesser trochanter of femur
origin and insertion of sartorius
origin –> ASIS
Insertion –> tibia - superior aspect of medial surface
Action of sarorius
At hip joint –> flex, abduct and laterally rotate
At knee –> knee
sartorius innervation
femoral nerve
innervation of quadricep femoris muscles
femoral nerve
origin and insertion of rectus femoris
Origin –> AIIS
Insertion –> base of patella, tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
Action of rectus femoris
- flexion at hip
- extension of leg at knee
origin and insertion of vastus lateralis
origin –> greater trochanter, lateral lip of linea aspera
insertion –> Base of patella, tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
origin and insertion of vastus medialis
origin –> intertrochanteric line, medial lip of linea aspera
insertion –> base of patella, tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
action of vastus lateralis and medialis
extension of leg at knee
vastus intermedius origin and insertion
origin –> anterior and lateral surfaces of femur
insertion –> base of patella, tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
action of vastus intermedius
extension of leg at knee
muscles that insert on tibia
- sartorius
- semitendinosus
- gracilis
list medial thigh muscles superficial to deep
- pectineus
- adductor longus
- adductor brevis
-adductor magnus - gracilis
- obturator externus
action of pectineus
- adduction of thigh at hip
- flexion of thigh at hip
- medial rotation at hip (hold femur in place)
Innervation of pectineus
- femoral and obturator nerve
origin and insertion of adductor longus and adductor brevis
origin –> pubic bone
insertion –> linea aspera of femur
action of adductor longus and adductor brevis
